He wasted little time in breaking into red figures with a birdie at the first and a birdie at the par-five fourth. He added another birdie at seven, but dropped a shot a nine, his first bogey since his fourth hole in Friday's second round.

Snedeker owned a four-shot lead, but back-to-back bogeys at 13 and 14 tightened up the contest. Kuchar, a former winner on the PGA Tour, was even through nine holes, but three back-nine birdies, including one at 17, got Kuchar within one.

"All in all, it was a good day," said Snedeker. "I didn't drive it as well today and I paid the consequences for it. But I still putted pretty well and other than a couple of missed clubs, I played well.

"I was trying to run away and hide. But two bogeys back-to-back brought me back to reality. Hopefully, I'll hit a few more fairways and make it easy on myself tomorrow."

John Merrick, who shared second place after the second round, only managed an even-par 72 on Saturday. He is knotted in seventh place with Chris Parra, who posted a two-under 70 in the third round, at minus-eight.

Following back-to-back wins by Lorena Ochoa, the LPGA Tour is in Asia for the first of three consecutive tournaments on the continent.

The 145-yard, par-three 17th at Amata Spring Country Club is Asia's only island green. Both of the co-leaders escaped with par there in the first round.

And although many of the top women's golfers in the world are not in the field -- including Ochoa, Karrie Webb and Annika Sorenstam -- there remains personal interest for the handful of LPGA Tour players with ties to the host country.

Stacy Prammanasudh, whose father was born in Thailand, opened with an even-par 72 and is tied for 35th place.

Aree Song returned to her home country and shot a two-over 74 to end the day tied for 48th place.

World No. 4 Cristie Kerr, the highest-ranked player in the field, is six shots back after opening with a one-under 71.

The championship is a biennial competition rotated among three geographic zones: Asia-Pacific, American and European-African. Each team plays 18 holes of stroke play for four days. In each round, the total of the two lowest scores from each team constitutes the team score for the round.

The Wings will look to offensive powerhouse Pavel Datsyuk and newly appointed captain Nicklas Lidstrom to lead one of the league's most prominent franchises.

Always a threat are the Ottawa Senators, with newly acquired goaltender Martin Gerber from the Stanley Cup champion ,Carolina Hurricanes. Also worth noting are the defending Stanley Cup champs Carolina Hurricanes, a 10-1 bet to repeat. Behind the Canes are the New Jersey Devils, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, and Anaheim Mighty Ducks all sit at 12-1.
